Introduction to the principles of black and white film photography, including the development of technical and aesthetic skills, elements of design and composition, camera technology, and an introduction to film processing and darkroom printing. Emphasis on critical issues in photography within the context of contemporary art, contemporary media, and photo history. The department may provide some materials and camera access.
Instruction in the advanced aspects of pickleball, as well as a review of the rules, etiquette, and skills. Emphasis on offensive and defensive singles and doubles strategies, as well as tournament match play.
An introductory course focusing on high-energy group fitness. It will have bursts of intense activity alternated with intervals of lighter activity. The course will be a mix of strength training and aerobic exercises. It will offer a challenging and varied workout in a

A course composed of lectures, discussions, assigned reading and listening designed to explore African-American musical heritage and its relationship to other folk expressions and to Western European Art Music. This heritage includes spirituals, work songs, blues, jazz, gospel and a broad range of popular music.

Exploration of LGBTQ+ film in two critical decades: the 1970s following the Stonewall Uprising and the 1980s with the rise of the AIDS pandemic. LGBTQ+ representations in film will be explored through historical, artistic, critical, and political perspectives. LGBTQ+ inspired films such as, horror, documentaries, cult favorites, international, and experimental films will be explored to assess the social and cultural impacts on LGBTQ+ people and communities.
This global humanities course examines LGBTQ+ culture, artists, and writers from ancient Africa, China, Egypt, Greece, Indigenous Americas, Japan, and the Middle East to Medieval and Renaissance Europe and Mexico through pre-World War II Europe and 1950s Japan and the U.S. Review of artifacts, art, artistic communities, and writers over the span of several centuries to assess changing attitudes to LGBTQ+ communities.CCSF GE Areas E and H3; CSU GE Area C2; IGETC Area 3B.

A survey of traditional and contemporary art across Oceania (Pacific Islands). Emphasis on literature, dance, music, visual arts, film, and museums. Using an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approach, the course explores the underlying unity of Pacific cultures, including their engagement with both western and non-western societies, colonization, and diasporic communities.
This course examines Pacific Islander migrations to the United States mainland including the history, culture, and politics of Hawai'i and U.S. Pacific territories. It explores indigenous cultures and American experiences of Pacific Islanders from Guam, American Samoa, Palau, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Australia.
