An introduction to photography aesthetic and technical skills, including manual functions of digital cameras, image creation and capture, file management and workflow, image adjustment and digital printing. The course will also introduce students to important historical and contemporary practitioners. Group critiques and practical labs using the camera and Adobe Software will help develop ideas and technical skills. This course is a major and certificate requirement.
PHOT 51-Sec 861 requires in-person meetings M/W and Zoom on Fridays. The meeting day(s) and time(s) are noted in the schedule. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet-enabled device. For course details, students must check the instructor's website. Satisfies CCSF GE Area E. Some DSLR cameras, lenses and computer lab access with software are available for student use. This course is a pre-requisite for PHOT certificates and the AS Degree.
