CCSF has transfer agreement programs with some colleges and not with others. Please note that even if the college you want to transfer to is not listed as having an agreement with CCSF, doing honors work will still look good on your transcripts and could give you an edge when applying for admission/scholarships. Every honors course you take will be designated and should be impressive to admissions officers.

Please see below for specific honors information at colleges with which CCSF has an understanding:

During the application process to the CSU’s, there is no way to note that you have received honors, so it may not impact whether you are accepted. However, many CSU bound students participate because they enjoy the challenge and because honors can help them get better letters of recommendation from their professors when they apply for scholarships.

Many UCs (for example, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Irvine) have Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) programs. Most transfer experts believe that TAG agreements are a better route to potential admission to than Honors. To take advantage of our Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) Programs you will want to check out the Transfer Center.

Regardless, earning honors credits may sweeten your resume when you apply to various general scholarships.

Please note that UC Berkeley and UCLA do not have any TAG agreements. See below for more information.

Special Notes: San Diego State University accepts community college honors course credit toward SDSU Honors Certificates, and registration is facilitated for SDSU Honors Program members.

UC Berkeley will consider honors participation as a factor in the admissions process, but there is no extra form to fill out.

UC Berkeley’s Transfer Alliance Project is not an honors program, so we don’t give out information about it directly. Please see UC Berkeley’s Transfer Alliance Project’s website.

The UCLA TAP program will give you priority admission status (not “guaranteed admission” to UCLA if you complete the following:

  • All GE and major requirements
  • 15 transferable honors program units
  • Honors Certification

UCLA TAP will also allow you to apply for a non-impacted alternate major (should you not get into the major that is your first choice). Finally, it will allow you to qualify to apply for a UCLA TAP scholarship.

Your TAP Certification Form will not be due until the beginning of the spring semester immediately preceding the fall you intend to start at UCLA. For more information please visit UCLA’s TAP webpage.

Process

  1. Be sure to have completed at least 6 transferable honors program units in or before the Fall before you plan to transfer (the remaining 9 units can be completed in the Spring before you transfer if need be)
  2. Apply to UCLA through the normal means by the regular Fall deadline for admission (usually the end of November)
  3. Complete the TAP Worksheet by the beginning of February (leave UCLA ID # blank)
  4. Download all unofficial college transcripts
  5. Send the completed TAP Worksheet and all unofficial transcripts to the Honors Coordinator
  6. CCSF will verify that you have or will complete 15 honors units and calculate your CCSF UC Transferable GPA (min. 3.00 transferable GPA required)
  7. After this information is verified, you will receive an email notifying you. At this point make an appointment to meet with a Counselor at the CCSF Transfer Center. TAP Certification Appointments are available through mid February
  8. A transfer Counselor will send you a form that you must complete and forward to UCLA, and you’re done!

Note: Late forms could reduce your likelihood of being accepted. Please contact the Honors Coordinator if you have any questions.
