Pharmacology

Introduction to the basic concepts of pharmacology with emphasis on the principles of pharmacology, medication, calculations, preparation, administration, and storage of medications, and understanding of the actions, side effects, and adverse reactions of different drugs.

Nursing Assistant

Theory and content integrating basic nursing concepts and skills in order to provide safe and competent patient care in a long term care setting. Core components include communication and interpersonal skills, infection control, safety and emergency procedures, promoting patient independence, patient/resident rights, basic nursing skills, personal care skills, mental health and social service needs, care of the cognitively impaired and basic restorative services.

Home Health Aide

A short term course that provides an introduction to basic client care in the home setting focusing on the following core components: all basic nursing skills in the home base setting, liability, safety, infection control, emergency procedures, abuse, patient independence, patient/residents' rights, social needs, housekeeping chores, food management, laundry, and record keeping. Successful completion of this course will entitle the student to a State Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA).

Nurse Assistant/Acute Care

Learn the knowledge and skills needed to function in an acute care setting, focusing on the needs of the acute care patient and the role of a certified nursing assistant in meeting those needs. Clinical placement in an acute care setting will provide hands-on experience caring for acutely ill patients with a variety of diagnoses. Teamwork, communication, and the importance of accurate observation and assessment will be emphasized.
