Chinese 4A is the first half of the Chinese 4 course. Intermediate grammar, composition, and reading. Practice in speaking and understanding Mandarin. Understanding of Chinese culture.
Beginning-level course in Cantonese. Extensive oral training in Cantonese. Emphasis on practical vocabulary and idiom rather than on formal grammar and literature. Students will learn tone and markings rather than Chinese characters.
Second semester course in Mandarin grammar, composition, and reading. Practice in speaking and understanding Mandarin Chinese language and culture.
