Catalog Description

An interdisciplinary analysis of contemporary, social, political, economic, and cultural issues that significantly affect the Filipino community, including the following areas: identity development, immigration and acculturation, socioeconomic status, labor, racial and ethnic diversity, colorism, gender identity, political empowerment, cultural appropriation, and indigeneity.

PHST 40 is a Core Requirement for the AA in Philippine Studies and an Elective for the AA and Certificate of Achievement in Philippine Studies. This class requires live online meetings with no required in-person meetings. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 16 weeks.
