Self-Defense

Instruction and practice in physical and psychological aspects of self-defense. Emphasis on developing strategies to emerge from threatening situations without sustaining serious physical or psychological trauma. The attainment of these skills can boost self-esteem, facilitating the pursuit of life and career goals.

Instruction and practice in physical and psychological aspects of self-defense. Emphasis on developing strategies to emerge from threatening situations without sustaining serious physical or psychological trauma. The attainment of these skills can boost self-esteem, facilitating the pursuit of life and career goals.

HS Algebra 1A

A first course in high school algebra that focuses on simplifying basic expressions and performing algebraic operations using the properties of rational numbers: simplifying polynomial expressions; numbers; factor binomials, trinomials, quadratic trinomials and polynomials, and solving word problems.

Supervised Tutoring

Tutoring and learning support activities offered outside of class. Students receive academic assistance in understanding course content, achieving academic course learning outcomes, basic skills, study strategies and computer skills. Students work with peer tutors who are recommended by subject-specific faculty. Peer tutors are trained, supervised, and participate in ongoing professional development by Learning Assistance or other discipline-specific faculty.

Prep for the CHW Field

This class offers an introduction to the roles and core competencies of Community Health Workers (CHW) and assesses students' readiness for the Community Health Worker Certificate Program. Students will learn key public health concepts, models for providing person-centered services, and explore the professional roles that CHWs play in health and social services.
