The Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC) is pleased to announce the availability of the 2024-25 Educating for Change Scholarship for California Community College students. This funding provides financial support to California Community College students who have a parent incarcerated in a prison administered by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Student Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be either:
- (1) A high school senior who plans to attend a California Community College; OR
- (2) A student currently enrolled in a California Community College
At the time of application, applicants must have a parent in a prison administered by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR)
- The definition of parent includes biological or adoptive parent, step-parent, foster parent, or legal guardian.
Prior to disbursement of scholarship funds, the student must provide proof of enrollment in a California Community College for at least 12 units or maintain an alternate full-time equivalent status.
How to Apply
- Submit your application (see attached) to your Community College Financial Aid or Scholarship Office so that your eligibility can be verified. Do NOT submit your application directly to FoundationCCC.
- Once it has been determined you are eligible for the scholarship, colleges must submit an invoice to FoundationCCC on your behalf.
- Invoices are due by February 1, 2025. Due to the limited amount of funding available, recipients will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants through a lottery system.
