Dear College Community,
Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), has scaled up San Francisco’s COVID color to red. At CCSF we continue to follow SFDPH precautions and remote instruction remains uninterrupted. Please remind those around you to stay safe by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
I can report that on November 12, 2020 our 5-year budget plan was passed unanimously by the Board of Trustees. This plan will provide a first of its kind for CCSF’s financial solvency and accreditation future. In the same meeting, the Board approved the administrative hire of the Executive Director, Office of Internal Control and Audit, reporting to both the Chancellor and the Board. This will bring accountability and further financial stability to CCSF.
The physical move of the Airport Maintenance Program to 1400 Evans has been put on hold to allow time for necessary Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval, and to begin the environmental review process. Wednesday Evans Center Community Forum will continue for the rest of the year, as follows: 11/18, 12/2, 12/9 and 12/26. All information related to this topic will be uploaded to the CCSF Evans Center web page soon.
The Office of Contract Education and Extension is pleased to announce a new contract with the Homeless Prenatal Program in collaboration with City College’s Health Education Department, following successful Summer and Fall pilots. These pilots prompted the desire to continue the relationship. The program provides courses for Community Health Workers onsite at community-based organizations. The Spring 2021 program will continue remotely but planning has begun to return safely in-person.
And, as always, thank you for all that you do for our community at City College and beyond.
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
