Dear College Community,
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the United States. The theme of this year’s celebration is Celebrate Resilience, Uplift Voices. Our local annual celebration is coordinated by community representatives who volunteer on the San Francisco APA Heritage Celebration Committee. CCSF is proud to be a community partner. Congratulations to Guillermo Villanueva and the entire Financial Aid Team who have been hard at work doing outreach and marketing! The team has reached out to 8,733 FCC students to complete their FAFSA applications. In addition, last Friday the team successfully hosted a virtual Financial Aid Awareness Day. I encourage those of you who have not yet completed your FAFSA to do so and get the help you need by visiting the Paying for College page.
Last week, the CCSF Library was acknowledged for its leadership in the statewide Library Services Platform (LSP) project. Chairs of the LSP Governance Committee expressed appreciation for CCSF librarians’ participation on the governance team and contributions to the areas of analytics, electronic resources, acquisitions, instructional support, and circulation. Congratulations to our superb library team! Students make sure to prepare for finals by making an appointment.
In more great news, the website: Medical Assistant Advice has rated CCSF’s Medical Assisting Program as the number one program in San Francisco. What they highlighted was the depth of the offering and the career ladder that this program offers. We topped San Francisco State’s program, several for profits, and the nonprofit JVS program. Keep up the good work!
How should we prioritize spending HEERF/CARES funds? Your input is valuable to us and we urge you to take the time to let us know about your priorities. Given all the misinformation on the use of these federal funds we have prepared an overview of allowable expenses. Get informed and get the facts!
Finally, the Commencement Committee recommended Timothy (Tim) Brown, Class of 2003, for the Alumni of the Year Award. Visit the commencement page for more details!
Have a great and beautiful spring week!
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
