Dear College Community,
I hope you had a restful weekend and all are ready to celebrate our ’20 and ’21 graduates in our first virtual commencement this Friday at 10 am. We anticipate that this event will have approximately the same number of graduates participate as in an in-person ceremony. We will be sharing the YouTube link shortly. Remember to use our hashtag: #InThisTogether, for all commencement posts.
Admissions and Records has developed a one-pager with visuals and instructions on how to register for a class. The document will be shared widely with CCSF staff and students through email, web posting, and as an in-person hand-out. The flyer is being translated into Spanish and Chinese for noncredit students. The registration department is seeking volunteers to support the virtual counter during the first week of the summer term to provide one on one support to students needing assistance with the process.
The Family Resource Center is launching a pilot “Parent Pathway” program for Fall ‘21, and is identifying students interested in joining the inaugural cohort. Students will take a LERN 50 course and receive wrap-around services. Over 200 student parents have expressed interest in joining the inaugural cohort.
On May 19, the Strong Workforce Program supported the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) on the Spring 2021 Startup Pitch Competition. The event featured aspiring entrepreneurs who are seeking to get their ideas off the ground through market feedback, networking with peers, mentors and potential co-founders. This competition was featured on PBS KVIE in Sacramento on May 19th (repeat showing: May 23rd) as part of the Inside California Education Series. In the Bay Area, KQED will air this segment on June 6th at 5 p.m.
Finally, we have launched the newly revised MyCCSF web page. This is the student one stop access page to get technical assistance and all other pertinent web pages for students. In addition, the main CCSF main page now features our new College branding and access buttons for new and continuing students. Thank you to the web advisory group, especially to JC O’Donnell for the design.
Have a great and final week of our Spring Semester during COVID! You all did it! Be Proud!
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
