February 22, 2021
Dear College Community,
I hope each of you had a good weekend.
At CCSF we are mindful of the many ways our students have had to adapt to online learning, and in turn we have adapted as well when it comes to grading. Last week an email went out to all faculty and students informing them of Spring 2021 Flexible Grading Options. If you have not done so already, please make sure to open this email and follow the instructions within.
I have great news to share! The Associated Students Council (ASC) at Evans hosted their first council meeting of the Spring '21 semester last Thursday and appointed Natasha Ferreira as the Vice President of ASC Evans. Thank You Natasha for stepping into leadership!
In other great news, CCSF will be offering lottery-based grants to Non-Credit students enrolled in at least two courses. The enrollment period starts tomorrow, Tuesday February 23 and closes March 5. To apply you must enter through the CCSF Scholarship Universe site. Application support workshops to help students complete the form will start this Wednesday, February 24 from 3-4 pm and run through March 4th. Students will receive an email with further instructions. I want to acknowledge both Dean Guillermo Villanueva and Dean Vinicio Lopez, and their teams, for coordinating this effort to financially assist our Non-Credit population in such a short amount of time. For questions and assistance applying, please email Jonathan Polanco.
Staying on the topic of financial aid, we do not want any of our students to leave any money on the table. Stay tuned for the upcoming “Financial Aid Awareness Day.” Plans are underway to host Financial Aid Workshops to increase the number of students completing the FAFSA and Dream Act Applications. The deadline for both of these applications is March 2. For assistance, visit the financial aid virtual counter. Faculty, please share the link with students. Students share it with your friends.
Finally, the development of the Summer 2021 schedule of classes is nearing completion. The Office of Instruction staff, led by Elise Stewart, are reviewing draft schedules submitted by departments and performing quality assurance checks. The Summer 2021 schedule will go live in early March!
Have a wonderful week!
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
