The screen above shows the fields that you will enter on the Field Trips tab.

  • From the Requirement Level drop-down menu, choose the level for this course (options: Yes, Optional, No).
  • If you chose either "Yes" or "Optional", you must also include here a brief description of the types of field trips offered. (Note: this will appear near the beginning of the course outline of record under the Field Trip designation)
  • Click Save often!

If a course has required field trips, please remember that the time spent on the field trip must be included as part of the total hours for the class. In other words, field trips must happen during class time or, if there are special circumstances that require field trips to happen outside normal class time (such as special visiting hours for a building, park, or event), then the hours spent on the field trip should replace regularly scheduled class (happen in lieu of a normal class time).

Also, please remember that according to Title 5 language, "No student shall be prevented from taking a field trip or excursion which is integral to the completion of a course beacuse of lack of sufficient funds." Funding assignment and evaluation options to handle cases in which pre-existing commitments or cost make attendance impossible.
