Instructor Bio

I have always appreciated the diversity of people and programs at CCSF and am most comfortable when guiding students through reading and writing tasks in a classroom that is highly collaborative as well as challenging and fun.  Although I value the connections made in a traditional classroom, I also believe that teaching fully online can be exciting, offering flexibility and tools to meet students' different schedules and styles of learning.

In addition to teaching, I am the Requisites Coordinator on the CCSF Curriculum Committee, supporting other faculty in developing courses and programs to meet the needs of students as they prepare for the workforce or transfer to university.  Within the English Department, I serve as the Curriculum Committee Chair and collaborate actively with my colleagues on various projects including curriculum development, assessment, and hiring.

I earned my BA in English Literature from the University of Michigan and my MA in English Composition and Reading Instruction from San Francisco State University. I have since pursued many opportunities to develop my knowledge and skills in the field of education by completing training and workshops such as Reading Apprenticeship, the California Acceleration Project, and Teaching Men of Color in the Community College.

I enjoy singing in a chorus, hiking, and hanging out with my husband, son, and two cats.
