Instructor Bio

I have been teaching at City College since 2006 and before that I taught high school in the Bay Area and in Estonia as Peace Corps Volunteer. I have a BA in English and a MFA in Creative Writing.

I took my first poetry writing class here at City College after I had finished college with an English major. That class gave me the confidence to go on to pursue a graduate degree--and that experience informs my teaching and reminds me of the transformative power of learning in a supportive community.  I am always sure to offer a range of reading and writing that reflects the students of City College and diversity of the Bay  Area. I want all of my students to be successful and work hard to help them develop the skills needed to achieve their goals in school and in life.
