Instructor Bio
Attending community college transformed my life and motivated me to help others imagine new possibilities for themselves and the world we live in. I transferred to UC Berkeley for my Bachelor's in English, and then earned my Master's at Sonoma State University. I completed the Teaching Composition Certificate at San Francisco State University. I also completed the Association of College and University Educator's year long program in effective teaching practices as well as training in online teaching at CCSF. I continue to take advantage of professional development opportunities, for example, completing the Cora Learning Black Minds Matter course which educates teachers about issues faced by students of color. I have been teaching English at City College of San Francisco since 2006. I enjoy learning from my students and am inspired daily by their stories, their progress, and their insights. I hope students will use my class to examine why they think the way they do, develop more compassion for others, and empower their own voices. I believe the more people who master these skills, the more just our society will become.
