Instructor Bio

Hello, my name is Jim Skinner, I am a retired Fire Service Professional who is honored to be Department Chair for Administration of Justice and Fire Science. I started my career here at City College of San Francisco studying Fire Science. I went on to work for the Redwood City Fire Department where I retired as Chief of the Department with over 34 years of service. I have taught courses in Administration of Justice and Fire Science and help coordinate the Fire Science program and the Firefighter 1 Academy. I have been teaching at CCSF since 1994. I have experience teaching Command, Management, and Prevention classes for California State Fire Training and am an adjunct instructor for the National Fire Academy.

 I am a graduate of the CCSF Fire Science program with an Associate degree in Fire Science and I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science with an emphasis in Fire Administration from Cogswell Polytechnic College (NFA). I am also a State of California Certified Chief Officer.
