If you are an active service member or veteran, you may qualify for credit toward your program of study.

CCSF is dedicated to ensuring the success of our active duty and veteran students. If you attended a military service school, received training, or served in an occupation specialty you may be able to earn credit toward your program at CCSF.

STEP 1: Apply to City College of San Francisco

• ​​​​​​You must be a current CCSF student to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).

  • If you are a new student, please complete the New Credit Student application.

  • If you have not taken courses within the last year, you must re-apply as a Returning Credit Student.

STEP 2: Submit your official Joint Services Transcript (JST) to the Admissions and Records Office

• Active-duty members can submit a Joint Services Transcript (JST). You can order your JST through the JST website.

• Air Force: Official Transcripts from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) can be sent directly to the Admissions and Records Office. CCAF is an accredited college and any credits accepted by CCSF are considered transfer credit, rather than credit for prior learning.

STEP 3: Meet with a CPL counselor

• Contact the CPL Counselor to schedule an appointment to review your JST for any potential credit towards your program of study:
