STEP 1: Apply to City College of San Francisco

• ​​​​​​You must be a current CCSF student to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).

  • If you are a new student, please complete the New Credit Student application.

  • If you have not taken courses within the last year, you must re-apply as a Returning Credit Student.

STEP 2: Send Official Scores to Admissions and Records

• Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores can be ordered through College Board.

  • Order Advanced Placement (AP) Test Scores

  • Order College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Test Scores

• International Baccalaureate (IB) test scores can be ordered through the IB.

  • Order International Baccalaureate (IB) Test Scores

STEP 3: Schedule an Appointment with an Academic Counselor

• Schedule an appointment with your academic counselor to review your test scores and determine if applying for credit is right for you.

STEP 4: Complete the Petition Form

• Complete and sign the Credit for Prior Learning Petition form. Your counselor will be required to sign the form as well. The completed form can be submitted to cpl@ccsf.edu.
