Catalog Description

An introductory course in large format photography for professional and artistic use. Students will explore the unique applications of a manual 4x5 view camera, including perspective correction, and selective focus. Course will cover techniques needed to properly expose and process large format film, and produce digital files from negatives. Cameras and accessories are available to students.

Section Notes

This in person class explores 4x5" large format View Cameras and CCSF PHOTO's black and white darkroom and negative scanning. Some Thursdays the class will meet in V160 (the BW darkroom). Cameras and some film, chemistry and paper are available for students. See the course website for the class supply list. Pre-reqs include PHOT81A. To waive the pre-req visit the CCSF Pre-requisite Challenge Process page. The class fulfills the requirements for the AS Degree in Photography as well as certificates of achievements.
