Catalog Description

This course critiques the United States food system and policies through a health equity framework exploring topics including nutritional guidelines, dieting and weight loss industry, food assistance programs, food security, legislation, industrial food production, the role of agriculture and corporations, and alternative food systems.

Section Notes

This class requires in-person meetings and the use of Canvas. In-person meetings will take place on select Tuesdays: 1/28, 2/11, 2/25, 3/11, 3/25, 4/15, 4/29, 5/13 from 11:10-12:25pm at Mission Campus. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 16 weeks.
