Catalog Description

Theoretical knowledge and skills competencies necessary to meet California regulatory requirements for phlebotomy technicians. Emphasis on phlebotomy techniques, equipment, medical/legal considerations, safety, infection control, specimen collection and handling, patient preparation and patient care. Course prepares student to take the CPT-1 examination.

Section Notes

HCT 104 is an in-person course that meets from 1:10 to 7:50pm. There is one lecture and two labs. Students will be selected for the labs per lottery. This course is a tech-enhanced course and requires the use of Canvas. Some coursework may be completed on Canvas using an internet-enabled device.

Requisites

Recommended Preparation, BSEN 74 or ESL 186 or CMST 4 or readiness for college-level English
