Prerequisites and Corequisites
City College has established prerequisites and corequisites to ensure that students have the skill level necessary to succeed in a course. A student who wishes to challenge a prerequisite or corequisite should file a Petition to Challenge a Prerequisite or Corequisite prior to enrolling in the course.
Completing either the prerequisite course(s) or receiving a Prerequisite Waiver will qualify you to enroll in the course but will not guarantee that space will be available during either the registration or add/drop periods.
To challenge a prerequisite, submit a Petition to Challenge a Prerequisite form (and supporting documentation such as your challenge test score or college transcript equivalent) to the department of the target course. If the challenge is approved, a copy of the decision must be submitted to the Office of Matriculation to allow enrollment in the course.
Complete the Online Prerequisite Challenge Form and attach a copy of your transcript showing the related course completed at another college with a "C" or higher grade.
